| Having ACI as your ISP (Internet Service Provider) allows you personal web site space of 50 MB to create your own web page and maybe display those
wedding pictures, kids graduation, family picnics, the kids sporting events or anything related to your family/friends.
It does not however allow you to put anything up business
related, meaning that if a page or even any links
from your page have anything to do with making money
on it, it will be considered to be a commercial /business
site and removed or billed as such. |

| So with that out of the way we can
walk through the steps on setting up your personal
web site. |
| |
| Setting up
your "Personal Web Site" |
 |
You will need two things to set
up your new web site, this is of course assuming
that you know HTML programming and don't need
to know how to create a web page.
If you do not know how to code in html there are
plenty of web sites with online help guides to
keep you busy. TUCOWS
has quite a number of HTML editors to choose from,
I suggest you do a search for "html editor"
on their site.
Just download an editor of your choice and install
it. Please note that ACI does not give Support
for any of the HTML Editors. |

| Logging into
your "Webmaster Account" |
 |
| 1.) |
You will need to have
your main login username and password in order
to have access to your personal web site. You
were given these when you first signed up with
ACI. This is the main or the first e-mail/account
that you received. This username will also be
the address of your web site...
Example: http://www.aci.on.ca/~yourusername |
| |
|
|
|
|
|
| 2.) |
You will need to have some kind
of FTP (file transfer program) to move your HTML
(web page files) from your computer to your new
web site. |
| |
|
|
|
|
|
| |
There are many FTP programs available on the Internet, FileZilla is free at the moment... or
you can search for something else through TUCOWS for example. |

| Connecting
to your "Webmaster
Account" with the FTP program. |
 |
| Whatever FTP program
you choose you will need 3 basic bits of information
to actually get connected. |
 |
1. |
Hostname: public.aci.on.ca |
2. |
Username: you were given this at
the time you signed up |
3. |
Password: you were given this at
the time you signed up |

| Important
Notes - Please Read |
 |
1. |
The starting page for your web site
must be named "index.html"
after that you can name the pages whatever you
wish. |
2. |
Due to security issues with Microsoft
FrontPage, FrontPage extensions are NOT
supported. Therefore some links and/or functions
may not work on your site if you have composed
your web site with this program. |
3. |
Web pages can ONLY
be uploaded to the ACI Personal Web Server from
a connection inside the ACI coverage area. |
